While challenging at times, sculpture can be equally rewarding and therapeutic, and this exciting course has been developed for beginner to intermediate students as well as more experienced artists wanting to experiment with a new medium. Over the course of several weeks you will explore a variety of subject matter, such as objects and animals, in the process of moulding a series of sculptures that will develop a range of fundamental clay techniques. The second unit of the course will provide the opportunity to build on these skills in the creation of a life size sculpture of the human head.
Ben Howe is one of Melbourne’s most formidable painters of photo realism. Ben uses sculpture as a key part of his creative process, and is highly regarded as an artist for his consistent and considered body of work which is both collected and exhibited on a regular basis. Ben’s serious approach to the making of art gives students the opportunity to receive mentoring from an artist who is true to the traditional expectation of one who lives and breathes the making of images.
