Ben Howe is one of Melbourne’s most formidable painters of photo realism, and is highly regarded for his consistent and considered body of work which is both collected and exhibited on a regular basis.
This popular class offers students of all levels the possibility of learning how to paint realistic and strong portraits, using a mix of classical and contemporary approaches. Students will be guided through every step of the process from how to observe and compose, to drawing, tonal value, brush technique, colour preparation and glazing. Experienced students will also be encouraged to develop individual techniques that express a more intuitive approach.
Ben’s serious approach to the making of art gives students the opportunity to receive mentoring from an artist who is true to the archetypal or traditional expectation of one who lives and breathes the making of images.
