Ben Howe is one of Melbourne’s most formidable painters of photo realism, and is highly regarded for his consistent and considered body of work which is both collected and exhibited on a regular basis. Ben’s serious approach to the making of art gives students the opportunity to receive mentoring from an artist who is true to the traditional expectation of one who lives and breathes the making of images.
Over the course of studies students will explore aspects of the following techniques:
- Canvas Preparation.
- The use of brushes and brush strokes.
- Colour Theory and values.
- Painting light and shadow.
- Creating the under-painting.
- Transferring images.
- Articulating fine detail in painting.
- Finishing a painting with glazes.
This program is perfect for people who wish to become fluent in painting photo realistic artworks using oil paint and mediums.
This rigorous class will also contain an emphasis on completing your work to its fullest potential and retaining your own personal touch through content, brush stroke and narrative.
Open to Intermediate and Advanced students with some background in beginner – intermediate courses.
Students in the course are welcome to set up from 9.30 am and are invited to use the studio until 4 pm.
