Open studio gives students the opportunity to use the space to work on their own projects with light guidance from School Director Dena Lester and rotating tutors.
Throughout the course of the term, you will have the opportunity to:
- Gain specific direction in in developing a consistent body of work with a specific direction in both form (style) and content (meaning)
- Sit in sessions together with other students and teachers to discuss works in progress
- Take the time and space to invest in your own work and explore your own pathway in painting or drawing
- Receive expert guidance and advice on technique, approaches, context and purpose of your own artwork
Dena Lester is the creator of both Art Encounters and the Melbourne Studio of Art. Her chief interest in teaching is to assist practitioners in truly translating the inner content of their lives into disciplined visual form – that is, bring order and chaos into a fine balance to create articulate images. Students of all levels of experience are welcome to join this casual and relaxing program.
