This contemporary art course for adults will be taught by multidisciplinary Melbourne artist Katie Eraser, who specialises in contemporary painting, drawing, assemblage and sculpture.
Designed for adults, students will be given the opportunity to immerse themselves in a range of techniques and processes centered around self-expression and abstraction.
Exploring traditional mediums, through a contemporary framework, students will work within drawing, painting and mixed media to better understand art making by building technical and expressive skills.
Students will create a range of works that delve deeper into mark making, gesture and storytelling utilising different processes to develop their skills in contemporary, conceptual and expressive art, anchored in art history. A range of key contemporary artists will be referenced and studied, within which students will develop their own story and expression within art making.
As classes will be offered in an online space, students will benefit from whole class demonstrations, as well as 1:1 tutorials in each session, providing students a rigorous and engaged learning journey.
